The Bronx Warriors / I Guerrieri del Bronx (1982) by Enzo G. Castellari

The Bronx Warriors is one of the first Italian productions to follow in the footsteps of Snake Plissken, while borrowing from Warriors the principle of hyper-stylized gangs. With a budget of 500,000 dollars, Castellari recruits his young first at the weight room, takes the crew to New York to film exteriors and returns to Rome with the ex-glory of Blaxploitation Fred Williamson to orchestrate an outburst of urban violence between bikers who seem to come out of a concert of the Village People and gestacops with very expeditious methods. Released worldwide, the film is a success that will call for a sequel the following year, while the director and his producer Fabrizio de Angelis immediately implement their ersatz house Mad Max II.
