"Death Laid An Egg" (1968), here reissued for the very first time on vinyl, is a unique score characterized by avant-garde sounds that are combined with the bright tones of an atypical thriller that pays homage to the cinema of Luis Buñuel.

"Death Laid an Egg" is a 1968 thriller directed by Giulio Questi, with an international cast whose main actors are Ewa Aulin, Gina Lollobrigida and Jean-Louis Trintignant, a very particular film with a photography with warm and bright tones, in strong contrast with dark and gloomy atmospheres and plots.

The soundtrack of the film, composed and directed by Bruno Maderna, is even more particular and distant from the typical sounds of the time and almost all similar works of those years: no trace of beat or psychedelia in fact, but a collection of abstract and dissonant compositions, which we could define as avant-garde and partly associated with certain experiments characteristic of a formation active in those same years, the Nuova Consonanza Improvisation Group, but also to the more experimental side of the library music genre. All the songs were made with the sole help of strings, acoustic guitar, piano and spoken word. A truly unique, unpredictable and almost impossible to classify work!
