“5 Bambole per la Luna d'Agosto”, a film directed by the master of Italian thriller Mario Bava, has for better or worse gone down in history, and is today considered a true cult of Italian genre cinema. Underestimated by many due to an unconvincing screenplay and dialogue, the work is nevertheless absolutely worth recovering due to the chromatic and photographic solutions, on which at the time - and in many ways still today - Bava was second to none, so much so that the master of horror Dario Argento himself would pay homage to him several times in his films in the following years. The cast also features a young Edwige Fenech, still far from the frivolities of the Italian comedy of which she would soon become the protagonist.

Just as Goblin's music perfectly fits Argento's images, "5 Bambole per la Luna d'Agosto" cannot ignore the beautiful soundtrack by another master, Piero Umiliani, a composer who fully experienced the evolution of popular music in Italy, starting from the first rock'n'roll cries of the late '50s, through beat, psychedelia and the passage into progressive territories in the early '70s. All these influences mix, in this musical commentary, with a solid jazz background, of which Umiliani was a true exponent, and a pinch of lounge atmospheres that made the artist's style unique.

Originally released in 1970, at the same time as the film, on Cinevox Record, the soundtrack of “5 Bambole…” is among the rarest and most sought-after items in the Cinevox catalogue, and has never been reissued on LP until today. This edition, in addition to the songs from the original version, recovers the song “Ti risveglierai con me”, played by Balletto di Bronzo, and present in the film’s closing credits.
