After their collaring of a rising crimelord (Jimmy Smits) on minor charges blew a sting that would've put him away for good, veteran Chicago cops Danny Costanzo (Billy Crystal) and Ray Hughes (Gregory Hines) wound up with nothing but a chewing out and a forced leave. They decide to hang it up, but not before they make good on ensuring their nemesis stays behind bars.
