"Milano trema:la polizia vuole giustizia" (aka "The violent professionals") directed by Sergio Martino in 1973. The film is set in a violent Milan where the distressing and fearful climate that characterized life in the big Italian cities during the so-called "years of lead" reigns in a tangible way. Commissioner Caneparo who, after being suspended from service, for his unorthodox methods, wants to take revenge for the death of a colleague. The fearless policeman enters the world of the underworld, getting into the good graces of a gang of criminals... after a series of bloody robberies, breathtaking chases through the streets of Milan, Caneparo manages to discover the leader of the gang, a publisher who wants to favor an authoritarian regime. Martino with healthy and precise skill manages to make a smooth film, full of rhythm and without dead spots; he also manages to recreate the climate, through the valid performances of the actors, violent and full of fears of those years. The images are excellently commented by the music of the brothers Guido & Maurizio De Angelis who have written a memorable monothematic ost dominated by a melancholic main theme performed on the moog accompanied by the orchestra conducted by Gianfranco Plenizio. This leitmotif is continuously taken up in the Ost as if to accompany all the moods of Commissioner Caneparo in his bitter story of revenge with fascinating variations. At the time, RCA released a 45 rpm single (RCA OC 39) containing "Blue song", the main theme in a cover version sung by Susy & Guy which we include on CD for the first time ever and "And life goes on" sung by Susy Lion.
