"Porci con la P.38" is a little-known 'police' film, directed in 1978 by Gianfranco Pagani – his only work – and soon forgotten, for two main reasons: the modest quality of the final result and the historical period in which it was made, the end of the 70s, years in which the Italian-style detective story essentially no longer existed.

Of a very different workmanship, however, is the soundtrack, signed by the composer and conductor Pippo Caruso (1935-2018), only by pure chance rediscovered in very recent times by the vast archives of Cinevox Record; in 1978 the most popular sounds were those of the newborn disco/dance, yet the songs of this LP seem suspended in time, as if they belonged to the golden age of detective masterpieces. Symphonic orchestrations, jazz-rock, funk and suspenseful 'Morriconian' dissonances are the main ingredients of an excellent work, of which probably even many fans were unaware... until today!
